Here is an assortment of some of the custom ordered dolls I made during the 6 years I was making dolls. I got some unusual and imaginative requests. They were all quite time consuming to make, as not only did the dolls need to be made one at a time, but their clothes usually needed to be made one of a kind as well. And since they were often not my standard size of a doll, I had a lot of pattern adjusting to make the clothes fit each doll. By the time I stopped making dolls, almost 75% of my work was custom orders. Sizes varied from 3 to 7 inches.
I made the dolls entirely by hand one at a time, using no molds. Hand sculpted of polymer clay, including their hair, faces, shoes and socks. I use no paint except for a light blush for their cheeks. They are jointed at the hips and shoulders with a strong elastic cord. (A very few were also jointed at the knee, but this was not very practical.) I designed and sewed their clothes, and sewed on more tiny snaps than I can count! I also made and sold patterns for all their clothing, so others could sew for the ones they purchased.
